I'm usually adding way too many things to my cards, so it was a personal challenge to keep it clean and simple! I really wanted to add more, but I stopped myself! This is the first card I have made without anything shiny or sparkly! LOL Two challenges sparked the idea for this card. The My Favorite Things Sketch and the Citrus and Zing CAS at Happer Little Stampers.

INSTRUCTIONS:

First, I cut out an A2 size top-folding card base, and a 4" x 5.25" panel using white cardstock, a trimmer, and a scoring tool

I then took a scrap piece of cardstock and placed it diagonally on the card panel and secured it with some washi tape. Using a blending brush, I blended out the yellow ink. Then I flipped the scrap piece to the other side, secured it with some more washi, and blended out the green ink a little further out. My blending skills need some work, but I was actually going for a not-so-perfect look.

After removing the scrap piece of paper, I used another scrap of white cardstock and stamped out the lemon half stamp once in green ink and once in yellow ink using the mini MISTI. I then fussy cut them out with mini-snips.

I put those two lemon halves together to represent the circle part of the sketch, and popped them up with some foam tape, which I cut with another pair of scissors that I started using exclusively for sticky items, and using a spellbinders tool to pull the adhesive backing off.

I stamped out the sentiment from Catherine Pooler's My Kind Floral stamp set in black ink a few times with the mini MISTI to make sure it was crisp.

Finally, I adhered the panel to the card base with some more foam tape for a little more dimension. And that was it! It definitely did not take me as long as usual to complete this, so I will have to keep CAS cards in mind when I think I don't have time to be creative!
